How Do Painkillers Work?

The mechanism of action of a pain-reliever depends on the type of medication you are using. How Long Does It Take Painkillers to Leave Your System?

For a medication to be eliminated from the body, it has to be first metabolised. This is the breakdown of the therapeutic into its metabolites. Most of the metabolites are excreted via the kidneys, but there are other processes involved in drug elimination as well, such as through bile, faeces, urine etc. The time it takes for painkillers to be removed from the body is dependent on the formulation of the analgesic.
